Poems with unlikely inspiration #1

In another place, this dreamy world
your space is vast -

an empty office where
the desk is large enough to lie on

and someone to bring you coffee, lists,
dispose of your unwelcome gifts,

field the play of the working day.
You have to do some surgery,

discover an arrythmia, your knife
gripped over a patient chest.

This is a place where you can't choose
the music. Hats off to holistic ways.

An old flame visits but you have a new.
He asks you to come back.
He makes you laugh.

Here we don't have little kingdoms,
We follow the rules.
                        You wait, at night,

for your own face to rise, a pearly moon
buoyant against the great dark panes.
